Avatar's Abode
In 1978 I moved from Los Angeles to Avatar’s Abode, a 99-acre property of great natural beauty, on the summit of Kiel Mountain in Queensland, Australia, to marry Bill Le Page. Meher Baba visited Avatar's Abode in 1958. By his wish, Avatar's Abode is preserved as a place of world pilgrimage. Moving from L.A. to Avatar’s Abode was like stepping into another life. The sculpture that I did in Los Angeles was no longer appropriate for my new life so I turned my hand to whatever I could do to help.
The coloured pencil drawing, pictured below, was made for the Avatar’s Abode Trust to illustrate a gate concept for the entrance of Avatar’s Abode. Bill, my husband and chairman of the Trust, asked that the name, ‘Avatar’s Abode,’ and the six different religious symbols found on Baba’s Mastery in Servitude emblem be incorporated in the design. The gates should let all who see it know that this is a very special place.
The photograph displayed next to the sketch is of Bill standing at the entrance of Avatar's Abode in front of the finished gate.

Bill and I live at this place of pilgrimage, which is managed by the Avatar's Abode Trust. Meher Studio, where I work, is a part of our home here.
When I first arrived, I was stunned by the lush sub-tropical vegetation and the stunning views from Avatar's Abode, across forest and sugar cane fields to the Pacific coast, about five miles away as the crow flies.
The heart of Avatar's Abode is called, "Baba's House" where Meher Baba stayed in 1958. Incidentally, He gave the name 'Avatar's Abode" to the property at that time. His bedroom is the jewel in the crown, where pilgrims can find spiritual renewal in His loving presence.
Accommodation is available on the property. Pictured is one of the cottages, which has a lovely view to the ocean. Click here - Visitors Information - to learn more about planning a pligrimage to Avatar's Abode.
